The School Record

Published admissions and inspection figures for schools in England, from the DfE, Ofsted and local authorities.

Report an error

If something here is wrong about your school, we want to know.

Everything on this site is copied from official government and council publications. Next to every figure we say where it came from and when we downloaded it. That does not mean we are right. The original can be wrong, schools change, and we can join the wrong records together.

What is most likely to be wrong

What we cannot change

Sometimes the official publication itself is wrong. We cannot quietly change it. If we did, this site would become the source instead of a copy of one, and you would have no way to check us. What we can do is take a figure down when we have good reason to doubt it, and say why.

Only the publisher can change a published figure. That means the Department for Education, or Ofsted, or your council. Once they change it, we pick it up the next time we download their file.

Telling us

Please tell us the school's URN if you can, which figure is wrong, and what you think it should be. The URN is a number the government gives each school. You will find it on every school page, just under the name.

What happens next

What you send goes on a list, next to the problems our own checks find. We look each one up against the original. Then we either fix it, or we write down why we did not. Nothing gets quietly dropped. If a figure is being argued over and we have not sorted it out yet, we would rather take it down than leave it up.
